Oregon black walnut end grain countertops are made by fusing together the end pieces of wood strips into an offset rectangular pattern exposing the character of the wood rings and graining. End grain butcher block construction is the strongest and most durable and preferred by chefs because they show less scratches and cradle the knife’s edge. Black Walnut ranges in color from creamy white, light brown to dark chocolate brown. The wood develops a rich patina as it ages. The grain pattern is generally straight but can have curly grain that produces an attractive and decorative figuring. Countertops are made to order up to 3′ x 8′ (longer lengths available) with curving and shaping available upon request.
